1/08/2007 4:33:30 PM seanske Igor i had this idea
1/08/2007 4:33:36 PM seanske Igor of using text characters
1/08/2007 4:33:43 PM seanske Igor to form parts of a creature
1/08/2007 4:33:53 PM seanske Igor sorta like walking armour
1/08/2007 4:33:56 PM seanske Igor the characters are overlayed
1/08/2007 4:34:00 PM seanske Igor and overlapped
1/08/2007 4:34:06 PM seanske Igor to create a form of a creature
1/08/2007 4:34:08 PM seanske Igor sorta like transformers
1/08/2007 4:34:17 PM seanske Igor they are generated
1/08/2007 4:34:19 PM seanske Igor by a user typing in a word
1/08/2007 4:34:23 PM seanske Igor via the keyboard
1/08/2007 4:34:30 PM seanske Igor that word turns into a “letterbot”
1/08/2007 4:34:33 PM seanske Igor and starts moving around
1/08/2007 4:34:36 PM seanske Igor to evolve
1/08/2007 4:34:50 PM seanske Igor it could look up a synomn on a dictionary database
1/08/2007 4:34:55 PM seanske Igor and become more “beefy”
1/08/2007 4:35:00 PM seanske Igor with more letters or larger font

Haha, nice copy-paste from the MSN convo. I liked this idea by the way, maybe we can incorporate it in some way?
yah, if we do the ecosystem route, we could have the string input determine the genetic code of the animals. So you past in something from your blog, it takes the first 50 characters, converts them to numbers, and converts those numbers into genetic attributes of the animal (hitpoints, speed, etc..)
Interesting idea, using letters to build creatures. It’s very abstract and creative, could be something to consider if the idea is fleshed out a little more. It could source the letters from other places too, other than user input, like google search results, or network traffic or something. I’m not sure how it would work though, in terms of the physics, how you would incorporate a spring and mass muscle system into the shapes of the letters.
I suppose it could go more in depth than that too, we could even have the environment built out of letters.
The example looks cool, like some sort of weird dog or something.
